Main Tasks

The aim of China Meteorological Administration Training Centre (CMATC) is to become an internationally advanced, domestically first-class national-level training base with superior conditions, an excellent faculty and a perfect mechanism which can undertake the meteorological continued education and the higher level on-the-job training. Its main tasks are:

1. Undertake the continued education and on-the-job training for the mid-level, high-level managerial cadres as well as the professionals and technical personnel. Organize and implement the different kinds of training events according to the overall plan issued by CMA. 

2. Undertake the high-tech promotion & application training in meteorological operation and related domains. Organize and implement the training on significant meteorological modernization projects. 

3. Responsible for the construction of meteorological distance learning & training system. Organize and carry out meteorological distance learning & training programs. 

4. Organize and compile meteorological training materials and work out a variety of multimedia software. 

5. Guide the provincial (autonomous region, city) level training centers, and help train their teachers. 

6. Organize and implement the teaching and management of the training course offered by the CPC Party School but located in CMA. 

7. Undertake the work of WMO Nanjing Training Centre, Beijing Component, and implement related training programs in accordance to WMO overall plan. Undertake the training tasks for the staff to go abroad and other related English training programs. 

8. Undertake the management of the CMA library. To provide information service on library information, literature and data etc. for meteorological development, scientific research as well as meteorological training. 

9. Provide advisory services for decision-making on science & technology policies for CMA. Provide technical consultation and information service to related departments. Collect relevant information from home and abroad for further study and offer significant advice. 

10Responsible for the routine work of meteorological soft science committee, and conduct research programs on meteorological soft science as well as related domains. Edit and publish <meteorological soft science>. Undertake the research of meteorological standards. 

11. Responsible for the foreign affairs services in CMA. Undertake the translation of CMA & WMO documents. Interpret for the important delegations of CMA. Help with the simultaneous interpretation and translation work for the international conferences held by WMO regional centers. Undertake the reception and translation for important delegations invited by CMA, for large-scale international conferences sponsored by CMA and by other organizations. Handle the organization of CMA official delegations going abroad, including the passport application.
